Ode to Coffee

How much is a cup of coffee worth?

It is worth the space between the moment your coffee-maker starts making that gentle noise as it promises, entices, and invites to the moment when it is poured into your eager cups.

It is worth the time between the first sip to the last – the time where you can compose your thoughts, soothe the little aches and pains, and calm your nerves.

It is worth the aroma that is a heady perfume, enveloping you with a sense of well-being and bringing to mind pleasant memories, and half-forgotten delights.

It is worth the daydreams, and the moments of introspection and the quietness as you take your coffee just at the crack of dawn, or as the misty rain falls gently like a dream.

It is worth the feeling of kindness and security, and comfort, knowing that nothing can go wrong as long as you feel the mug in your hands, and you feel the coffee coursing through your system, giving you a warm glow.

It is worth the scribbles and the random thoughts that seem to spring forth from the sheer flavor of the coffee.

It is worth the kind of conversation that one can only have when having coffee with friends.

It is worth the energy and the sense that you can take on the challenges ahead just because you took the moment to take a break and let things fall into their natural places.
