the simplicity of being happy

Sometimes it does not take much to make us happy. A smile, a kind word, a gentle touch, and we are caught up in the rapture of the moment, and we are happy in the truest sense of the word. And nothing compares to the secret joys that we possess, and the peals of laughter that awash us with infinite tenderness. Shall we stay here and never leave this enchanted moment, this moment kissed by the mist of love, and magic? Can we hold on to it without crushing it, destroying it forever?

Some of the things that can make one happy: The smell of freshly cut grass, the gossamer-winged dragonflies, the tinkling of terra-cotta wind chimes, the scent of freshly brewed coffee in a clay cup held by both hands, the delight of a book- its scent, its weight, the feel of the paper, the words beautifully written, a singer’s ethereal voice tinged with sadness and heartbreak. No, it doesn’t take much to make us happy.

The paradox however is that although it doesn’t take much to make us happy, we find it difficult to ever be happy.

you well described a paradox of our human-ness. another being tears that sometimes come when we encounter beauty. (all paradox does not belong to God!)
