Do you speak french? spanish? italian? german?

I love the internet! I love google! I had fun seeing what i wrote translated to different languages. Makes you want to pretend you are a world-famous author whose works are translated all over the world. Here's what i wrote in english and their translation.

It is not as if he is afraid of the dark. It is just he prefers to leave the lights on when he sleeps because he finds there is something oddly comforting waking up in the middle of the night bathed in the garish fluorescent light. Waking up in the middle of his sleep is a habit he has learned to live with. In fact, in even in broad daylight, he would sometimes just leave the lights on. His mother was always despairing about his electric bills. A friend likes to theorize his penchant for the bright light is symptomatic of a problem. This friend however did not specify what problem and what the other symptoms could be.

French:

Se réveiller au milieu de son sommeil est une habitude qu'il a appris à vivre avec. En fait, dans même en large jour, il laisserait parfois juste les lumières dessus. Sa mère désespérait toujours au sujet de ses factures électriques. Un ami aime théoriser son penchant pour la lumière lumineuse est symptomatique d'un problème. Cet ami cependant n'a pas indiqué quel problème et ce qu'être les autres symptômes pourraient.

Being a German native speaker (and a professional translator on top of it) I just started with the German translation and tried to make sense of it, without having read the English. I could basically understand what you were saying, but the qualities of the original simply have disappeared. Well - good for me that translation tools can`t do my entire work yet ;-). But I can imagine the kick you get from this. The text looks marvellous in Italian: Non è come se sia impaurito dell'oscurità. May not make sense at all but it sounds like poetry, doesn`t it.
Good blog! Greetings from Holland.
